DBA program provides students with fundamental knowledge about the science of management based on the basic disciplines, such as sociology, marketing, strategy, finance and operations. Likewise, we also aim to train them in research methods, including epistemological issues, and quantitative and qualitative methods.

This knowledge will be acquired by taking a set of core courses together with methodological courses, and by establishing a close working relationship with faculty members who will guide students' knowledge development toward the practice of management. The IE Business School DBA Program is therefore directed to managers who hold a master degree and need professional development and progression in the light of dynamic organizations through management research within current and future work settings.

The capacities and skills that students acquire during the DBA Program include:

  • The vision to recognize important and unexplored business issues that are worthy of study.
  • A capacity to develop research questions that can be examined empirically following the methods of social sciences.
  • The ability to use a variety of research methods to collect, analyze and present data.
  • The ability to select suitable methods for the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data.
  • The ability to able to create knowledge that is of theoretical and practical significance.
  • The organization and time-management skills required to follow the entire process of research from the conceptualization of a research question to the recommendations for the development of better management practices.
  • An ethical attitude when designing and conducting research.
  • The networking skills required working in collaboration with the business community.
  • The writing skills required presenting the new ideas and body of knowledge in a coherent way following the standards of major management journals.

The presentation skills required disseminate to their work in professional conferences at national and international levels.
